U.S. Corps of Engineers repairs breakwall
A pleasant surprise greeted North Shore residents as they passed the Grand Marais harbor in the early hours of Tuesday, May 12. The U.S. Corps of Engineers, with Derrick Barge H.J. Schwartz and the tug Hammond Bay, as well as two barges piled high with boulders, were hard at work repairing the outer breakwall on the west side of the harbor. Full Story
County board adopts kennel ordinance

Four more wins have Vikings at 12-2
The Cook County baseball team won four of five games last week to improve its overall season record to 12-2. After wins in Silver Bay and at home against Ely, the Vikings lost a close game on the road to Esko, 9-12. The Vikings then rebounded to beat Floodwood on the road and Duluth Marshall at home. Vikings place well in Polar Junior High Track
A 12-member contingent of the Viking Track team headed down to compete in the Polar League Junior High championships in Barnum on May 6.
