Vikings tune up for playoffs vs. Thunder Bay
The Cook County baseball team had a rare week off from Section 7A competition, so the Vikings scheduled a doubleheader with a club team from Thunder Bay on Tuesday May 12. TheThunder Bay club team is a collection of their area's best baseball players who are 19 years of age or younger. Full Story
Vikings edged out of playoffs by Floodwood
The Cook County softball season came to an end in Floodwood on Tuesday, May 19. In the first round of the Section 7A playoffs, the Vikings lost a closely contested game to the Polar Bears, 3-5. Cook County was up against Floodwood's ace sophomore pitcher, Molly Johnsen. Full Story
Tennis Block Party kicks off tennis season
The Cook County Tennis Association held its annual Cook County Tennis Block Party Saturday, May 2, at the Cook County public tennis courts. This was also part of a nationwide celebration of Tennis Month (May). Fifty participants enjoyed the fun tennis activities, free barbecue lunch, and prizes, despite some cooler temperatures. Viking golfers compete in all conditions
The Cook County golf team has had a very busy spring, competing in six events during the past three weeks. Jake Sivertson and Kipp Sande have been a consistent "onetwo" punch for the Vikings' boys' team while Erica Borson and Tara Austin have continued to improve for the girls. Full Story
