In response to a cut in state aid to the City of Grand Marais, Park and Recreation Manager Dave Tersteeg presented to the park board on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 a list of suggestions on how the rec park could cut costs and increase revenue. City noise ordinance sent back to drawing board

After reviewing a draft noise ordinance during their May 27 meeting, Grand Marais city councilors sent it back to the drawing board for further revision, saying it was far more complicated than what they had envisioned. Not long ago, I walked by a table of folks comparing qualities of different trucks for different types of use. Heading out the door, I heard one man say to the other, "Say, how's that manifold holding up?" Engines, you see, pretty much need a manifold to run. If it is cracked, broken, busted—the engine dies and the driver is out of luck. Full Story

Vikings close Track season at Section 7A Finals
Nope, we didn't make it. Going into Friday's section track finals, we had hopes of getting the first state meet qualifier in track at CCHS in the last 20 years. Senior Losha Senty had qualified for the finals as the number five runner in both the 200 meter dash and the 400 meter run. Full Story
Vikings finish second in Polar League
The Cook County golf team finished its season after competing in the final day of the Polar League Conference Championship and then in the Section 7AA playoffs. Jake Sivertson had a strong performance for the Vikings in the conference meet and then advanced to the second day of the Section 7AA golf tournament. Full Story
Spring Jr. Team Tennis Program a success
This spring 56 boys and girls, ages 5 - 15, participated in the five-week 2009 USTA Jr. Team Tennis program. Teams, or groups, were organized by matching players of similar age and ability. Full Story
