Garden Tea Party at Last Chance Gallery
Last Chance Gallery is hosting a garden tea party on Sunday, July 5 from 1 to 5 p.m. Art demonstrations and displays will also be featured. The art demonstrations all connect to the gardens or tea. Anna Hess will demonstrate pleine aire painting and display garden paintings. Nancy Daley will demonstrate the papermaking process using plant materials. Full Story
Summertime art at Cross River Heritage Center
Schroeder artist Bruce Palmer has a summertime exhibit of his painting in the Fireplace Room of the Cross River Heritage Center in Schroeder. His work will be on display until July 4. Palmer began serious pursuit of painting in 1958 at the St. Paul Art Center on Summit Avenue. His teachers have included Paul Kramer, Clement Haulpers, Mac LeSuer and Bernie Quick. Full Story
Locals survive heat of 2009 Grandma's Marathon
The 33rd running of Grandma's Marathon Saturday, June 20, 2009 was a hot, humid one with a heat index so high that the event's medical director almost called it off. Of the 14 Cook County residents registered for the 26.2-mile race that runs along the lake from Two Harbors to Duluth, five finished. Full Story

WTIP North Shore Community Radio is the recipient of two awards. Deb Benedict, the station's director, has been selected as Broadcaster of the Year by the Independent Public Radio network, AMPERS. The station was also recognized for its work during the Ham Lake fire. Full Story
