Flute Reed Watershed annual meeting July 11
The Flute Reed Partnership, a "Community Watershed Effort," will be holding its annual meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11 at the Hovland Town Hall. Formed in 2006, the non-profit organization's mission is to "foster stewardship within the community to maintain, restore and enhance the watershed health of the Flute Reed River. Full Story

The ins and outs of entering the U.S. from Canada
For a month now, Americans re-entering the U.S. through the border crossing at Grand Portage have been asked to present a passport or other approved document, but according to Customs and Border Patrol Officer Frank Fenner, the new requirement has not been a problem. County airport receives 95,000 grant award
The Grand Marais-Cook County Airport is among five airports in northeast Minnesota that have been awarded over $2.2 million in grants from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Thefunds will come from the FAA's Airport Improvement Program. Full Story
Grand Marais Garden Club 75th flower show July 17
Through 75 Summers, Flowers Bloom in Many Ways is the theme for this year's annual Grand Marais Garden Club flower show. Members will create arrangements depicting the history of the club. Co-chairpersons of the event are Donna Clothier, Skip Joynes and Evelyn McDonald. Full Story
