West End townships question Lutsen Tofte Tourism Association
After signing off on the Lutsen Tofte Tourism Association's (LTTA's) request to pay off golf course bonds so it would no longer have to keep significant amounts of lodging tax income on hold in county coffers, the Tofte town board voted Thursday, July 9, 2009 to collect the tax itself and then disperse it to the LTTA. Grand Portage State Park Construction
Grand Portage State Park will only be open on weekends until mid-August, while work continues on site preparation for a new 5,800 square foot visitor center. Construction activities in hightraffic areas prompted the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) officials to close the park Monday through Thursday, beginning July 20, out of concern for visitor safety. Colonoscopy concerns at North Shore Hospital
Cook County North Shore Hospital performed no colonoscopies in June 2009 after nearly five years of conducting the testing. According to Hospital Administrator Diane Pearson the hospital was taking time to "evaluate" the program. Full Story
Judge Sandvik agrees to accept plea if offered in Weber case
The case of Maranda Weber may be drawing to a conclusion after two years.
