Girls repeat at Eveleth Invite XC race
The 41-athlete Viking cross-country team took off Thursday, September 17 for the Golden Bear Invitational in Eveleth. With 11 other Section 7A teams (a little more than half of the Section) it was a great chance to see where we stood early in the season. Full Story

Pvt. Kristy Thompson
of A Co. 2/60th Inf. Regt. completed her Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and graduated on Sept. 18, 2009.
Her parents, Ryan and Sherry Thompson of Grand Marais, attended Family Day and graduation. Kristy is now in Missouri for job training in the Heavy Equipment Operations Program.

Final rule on western Great Lakes wolves published
Staff reports
On Sept. 16, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service published a final rule in the Federal Register acknowledging that Endangered Species Act protections are reinstated for the gray wolf in the western Great Lakes. The rule complies with a court order and settlement agreement, which effectively restored ESA protections on July 1, 2009. Full Story
