Grand Marais man found dead on County Road 14

A motorist discovered a car in the ditch on County Road 14 near the Trout Lake Road in Grand Marais at 7:34 a.m. on Sunday, October 18. Next to the car was Jeffrey Allan Hanson, 53, of Grand Marais, deceased.

According to Cook County Law Enforcement, Hanson’s 2008 Toyota Yaris had left the roadway. Although the ditch was steep, there did not appear to be any damage to the car. Hanson’s body was found a short distance from the vehicle, in the water.

Sheriff Mark Falk said an autopsy was conducted by the St. Louis County Medical Examiner. Results were not available at press time, however Falk said foul play is not suspected.
