Viking volleyball advances in playoffs
With the Cook County Vikings volleyball team getting a No. 1 seed in the Section 7A playoffs, they had a first-round bye. In the second round of playoff action, the Vikings hosted the No. 8 seed Cotton Cardinals on Wednesday, October 28. The Cardinals had defeated No. 9 seed Tower-Soudan to advance to round two against Cook County. Full Story
Two quarters for Paul
It seems that our basement at home has become a glorified football field lately. All three of our boys have this insatiable desire to play catch, tackle, or any other kind of football they can think of. It has become more and more competitive as Adam (seven years old), Jacob (six years old), and Paul (four years old) constantly want my attention when I get home. Full Story

As the first dusting of snow covered the ground in Minnesota, the St. Paul Ski Club’s finest jumpers were in New York for the Lake Placid Flaming Leaves Festival. This kickoff event for the 2010 ski jumping season included U.S. Nationals competition on Oct. 10 and an NYSEF Super Tour competition on Oct. 11. Full Story
Trick or Treating on the Trail
We are approaching the never-ending month of gray, and the traffic on the Gunflint Trail has all but subsided. Things are very quiet and the only thing stirring is the wildlife. A lot of people are asking if any deer have been seen lately and I have to report that I have not seen any. Full Story
