Strong second half lifts Vikings over Cardinals
TheCook County girls’ basketball team improved their overall season record to 3-0 with a road win over the Cromwell Cardinals on Friday, December 18. After trailing 30-32 at halftime, the Vikings’ defense took over in the final 18 minutes as Cook County came out on top, 59-44. Full Story

A “common sense” list for Santa Claus
I have to say that this year I am as excited as ever for Christmas. I have even found myself glancing at the calendar counting down the days a couple of times. Vikings fall flat in Cromwell
After a tough seasonopening loss to Nashwauk, the Vikings had to wait 14 days for the second game of the season. Thelapse in time didn’t help the Vikings. It was like starting all over again, and the Cromwell Cardinals took advantage, outplaying Cook County in every facet of the game. The Vikings dropped the second game of the season, 30-61. Full Story

Vikings compete on Nordic oasis; great results no mirage!
On Thursday, December 17,
nine cross-country ski teams from the Arrowhead Region converged upon a nordic oasis at Mt. Itasca in Coleraine, MN. It was the Vikings’ first competition of the 09-10 season. The results portend to a successful future for our young team. Full Story
Solid racing for Vikings at Giants Ridge
The Viking Alpine girls' ski team had a commanding performance at Giants Ridge last week, taking first place overall in a 10-team field. Molly Rider and Signe Larson led the Vikings and had race results identical to the first race of the year, again taking second and fifth place, respectively. Full Story

Trail Openings
December 26th is the official re-opening date for both Trail Center and Hungry Jack Lodge. They will both be on a regular schedule, serving food and drinks. Hungry Jack has a great new menu and a full service bar including beer and liquor. Trail Center will be offering the same great menu that we have all fallen in love with. Full Story
