Economic thoughts

Like everyone else, I love a good deal. Because of this desire, the objective of all businesses is to provide custumers with better deals than anyone else. After all that’s a good thing – that’s the American way. But how is that objective achieved? Unfortunately, the major cost of products and services is labor. Hence, as one pushes cost reduction to the extreme, there will be fewer people who can buy these cheap products because they don’t have a job. That reminds me of Walt Kelly’s quote in his Pogo cartoon: “We have met the enemy and he is us.”
