Girls' Alpine Vikings advance to State
Larson, Rider qualify as individuals
Throughout the season, the Cook County/Silver Bay girls’ Alpine team has been making noise in the regional race circuit. The girls are strong and they won several meets with numerous top individual performances and plenty of hardware. Theseason’s typical meet consisted of eight to 10 regional teams with 75+ skiers at each meet. Full Story
Nordic Vikings finish season strong
Last Thursday, February 4, a small group of dedicated Nordic skiers headed off to Giants Ridge in Biwabik to compete in the Section 7 Nordic Ski Meet. This was the second trip to sections for varsity skiers Kieran Scannell and Shelby Ahrendt. Newcomers included Ben Seaton, Alex Ditmanson and Audrey Summers. You could sense that all of these kids were proud to be there representing their team. Full Story
Vikings polish off Agates, nipped by Timberwolves
The Cook County boys’ basketball team split in its back-to-back contests this past weekend to bring their overall season record to 7-7. On Friday, February 5, the Vikings beat the Two Harbors Agates 56-48 at home. On the following day, Cook County’s shooting woes cost them a victory, as Ely upended the Vikings, 34-41. Full Story
