Monday, Feb. 22

10:01 a.m., Hovland: Caller asked to speak with a deputy about someone tampering with his water system.

11:43 a.m., Grand Marais: Minneapolis man, 53, cited for speeding.

1:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller hit a tree with a snowmobile on Rose Lake.

2:34 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance requested for a woman, 35, who was injured in an automobile accident. She was complaining of dizziness and cramping.

9:30 p.m., Grand Marais: A Grand Portage man, 32, was arrested for criminal damage to property, DWI and driving after cancellation following an incident in which he ran his pick-up full of wood into a person’s deck two times, smashing the deck and stairs before fleeing.

Tuesday, Feb. 23

8:57 a.m., Grand Marais: Qwest notified about a problem with long-distance lines.

3:35 p.m., Tofte: Numerous calls received about a deer that was struck by a vehicle, but still alive on the side of the road.

6:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Injured deer reported on the highway. A trooper dispatched the animal.

Wednesday, Feb. 24

9:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man, 25, cited for speeding.

3:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called regarding a disturbance at a residence.

Thursday, Feb. 25

5:45 a.m., Hovland: Fire department called to extinguish a brush pile that was burning the day before near mile marker 132 along the highway.

12:30 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a 14-year-old boy with a head injury.

6:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of smoke near the intersection of County Roads 7 and 13. It was determined the smoke was coming from a slash pile on County Road 48.

Friday, Feb. 26

12:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that around 7 p.m., a young man in his 20s came to the door, trying to sell a carpet cleaning system, and offered to do one room for free. The caller believed it was suspicious and didn’t let him in.

1:04 a.m., Tofte: Local motel clerk reported that a male guest made obscene gestures to her, and now has returned.

10:34 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported “suspicious activity” regarding a package she tried to send back Feb. 11.

6:34 p.m., Tofte: Deer struck and killed by a vehicle. The vehicle was disabled.

11:44 p.m., Lutsen: Deputies responded to an altercation involving four or five men at the ski hill. All were described as in their 20s and “somewhat intoxicated.”

Saturday, Feb. 27

2:00 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of an assault involving two girls that occurred around 2 a.m. in Grand Portage.

3:19 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance requested at the ski hill for a person who has been unconscious for about 10 minutes.

3:41 p.m., Grand Portage: Deer struck by a vehicle near the lodge.

4:24 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance again requested at the ski hill for a 16-year-old female with a head injury.

7:26 p.m., Grand Marais: State trooper arrested a West St. Paul man, 24, after he was stopped with a hash pipe and an uncased, unloaded pistol.

Sunday, Feb. 28

10:41 a.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a boy, 12, with neck and back injuries.

1:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost credit card. 4:00 p.m., Lutsen: Report of a lost wallet. 4:40 p.m., Tofte: Deer struck and injured on the highway.

6:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Motel guest complained that his wallet was stolen out of his room by housekeepers. The wallet was later found, in the room.

11:46 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance requested for a man who fell on the ski hill earlier in the day and suffered an injured arm (possible shoulder separation). He was transported to the hospital.
