Lots of write-in votes in Schroeder election
The Schroeder Township 2010 annual meeting lasted until well after 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9, but the 25 residents in attendance got a lot done with little dissension. The biggest question was probably who would win the supervisor seat to be vacated by Cathy Johnson, who did not run for re-election. Full Story

Before heading to town meetings at Tofte and Schroeder, Commissioner Bruce Martinson gave Lutsen citizens an update on the county’s work to establish a broadband Internet system throughout the county at the Lutsen Township annual meeting on Tuesday, March 9. Playhouse a very busy place
Grand Marais Playhouse is a major hub of activity this month. First up, Theater

at 7p.m. on March 16 at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts. This is improvisational theater with a competitive sports angle. Audience participation is very important. The public is invited to come cheer on the high school students as they perform in this show. Thisevent is fun for all. Full Story

Cook County advances to Section 7A Semifinals
The Cook County girls’ basketball team won its first two playoff games to advance in the Section 7A playoffs. In second-round play, the Vikings trampled the Lions of Lakeview Christian Academy, 77-16. Cook County then survived a quarterfinal scare by beating the Cherry Tigers, 48-46. The two playoff wins improve the Vikings’ overall season record to 23-4. Full Story

finish regular season 8-12
The Cook County boys’ basketball team finished its regular season with a 56-38 win over the Two Harbors’ Agates. The win brought the Vikings’ overall season record to 8-12. Full Story
Exciting curling action at annual mixed bonspiel
The Cook County Curling Club held its annual mixed bonspiel over the weekend of February 26 - 28, 2010. A total of 12 teams participated in the international event, with six teams from Canada and six teams from the North Shore for hearty international competition. Full Story
