Reminder for letters: Letters to the editor, columns, and cartoons are all the opinions of the contributors
and not necessarily the Cook County News-Herald. While we encourage readers
to submit letters to the editor on issues they feel strongly about, we ask that
letters include name, address, and phone number. The Cook County News-Herald may withhold a name to protect a letter writer, but will never run a letter
without knowing the identity of the author. Anonymous submissions or letters of
questionable credibility will not be published or acknowledged.
The Cook County News-Herald also asks that letters be no longer than 350 words,
however at the editor’s discretion, longer submissions may be published. All
letters are subject to editing for length, clarity, and libelous content.
Seasonal property owners pay more than their share
As Executive Director of MSRPO, I have never
heard a seasonal property owner say that they did not expect to pay property taxes in support of local schools. In fact, as state payments to schools have declined, seasonal property owners felt the pressure in increased property tax bills long before homesteads. Full Story

Before you vote, we want to urge you to think about the community you want to live in just ten years from now.
