Waage of Sawtooth Elementary wins Forest Education grant
Debra Waage, a fourth-fifth grade teacher at Sawtooth Mountain Elementary in Grand Marais, has been awarded a Forest Education Grant from Minnesota Forest Industries (MFI). The grant funds will be used to provide field trips for third, fourth, and fifth-graders to their school forest, which is located 14 miles east of Grand Marais. Full Story

Lake sampling volunteers needed
The Cook County Soil and Water Conservation District is once again looking for volunteers to monitor lakes around Cook County for the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s Citizen Lakes Monitoring Program. Thirteen lakes are targeted for monitoring this year: Agnes, Devil Track, Flour, Greenwood, Gunflint, Ward, Pike, East Bearskin, Elbow, Gust, Leo, McFarland and Tom. Full Story

Gunflint Trail innkeeper chairs Minnesota B&B conference
