Early spring affects winter tourism statistics
Cook County lodging tax income reported so far for the first quarter of 2010 seems to reflect the lack of snow over the winter and the early spring, with the tax bringing in a county average of 2.2% less than the first quarter of 2009. Grand Portage armed robbery trial date set
A trial date has been set for Edwin Olaf Vick, 74, of Shakopee, MN. Vick was arrested in the Twin Cities on October 5, 2009 and charged with probable cause related to the armed robbery of the Grand Portage Trading Post. Vick is scheduled to appear before a jury at the Cook County courthouse on July 27, 2010. Full Story

A jury trial was set for a 54-year-old man from Apple Valley, MN charged with interference with privacy; 5th degree assault, inflicting or attempting bodily harm; and trespassing after he was caught peeping into the window of a home on the Croftville Road in Grand Marais. Full Story
