Over 100 people gathered at the Cook County courthouse on Monday, May 31, 2010 to observe Memorial Day. American Legion Post 413 Commander Don Wilson welcomed the crowd and asked Pastor Kris Garey of Trinity Lutheran Church to offer a prayer. Irene Thompson then sang the National

Finally—suddenly— graduation
I have really enjoyed the months and weeks leading up to graduation, with our photos and little interviews with the members of the Class of 2010. I am amazed that these kids are old enough to be graduating. I remember when they were "Paddling to the Sea" at North House in third grade or graduating from DARE in fifth grade or planting trees in middle school. Full Story

Vikings lose to Bulldogs
The Cook County softball season came to an end this past week when the Vikings lost to the Carlton Bulldogs, 22-3 in the first round of the Section 7A playoffs. Preceding the playoff game in Carlton, Cook County lost its regular season game in Albrook, 8-2. The Vikings finish the season with a 3-12 overall record. Full Story
Larson, Scannell & Warren advance to track finals
The track season ended for most of the CCHS track team on Wednesday, May 26 at the Section 7A semifinals at UMD. A glorious spring day—sunny, breezy and warm provided a gorgeous backdrop for the over 300 athletes at this 16-team meet. Full Story
Ticks come with green-up
The 2010 fishing season started out pretty slow, but the bite has quickly turned around. ThisMemorial weekend gave us some beautiful weather and a pretty good walleye bite to boot. It wasn’t fast and furious, but it was back to normal. Full Story
