and not necessarily the Cook County News-Herald. While we encourage readers
to submit letters to the editor on issues they feel strongly about, we ask that
letters include name, address, and phone number. The Cook County News-Herald may withhold a name to protect a letter writer, but will never run a letter
without knowing the identity of the author. Anonymous submissions or letters of
questionable credibility will not be published or acknowledged.
The Cook County News-Herald also asks that letters be no longer than 350 words,
however at the editor’s discretion, longer submissions may be published. All

Why was courthouse lawn destroyed?
Commissioners, why did you allow the destruction of our beautiful courthouse lawn? You might have had reasons for your position but you’d have to prove that to me and the upset community.
I suggest you redeem yourselves before election time and restore the courthouse lawn.

Restore the courthouse lawn
All right, let’s talk about the Memorial Day service at the Cook County courthouse.
It would appear that someone wanted to add, for effect, a facsimile of a bomb crater on the premises to honor our fallen. Or, maybe someone started to dig up a sewer line and quit mid-project when the money ran out. Full Story
Questions Colvill Fire Department decision
On Saturday, May 22 the Colvill Fire Department held its annual pancake breakfast. What a shock to enter the building and have to face Susan Thompson at the cashier table. When Judge Sandvik ordered Mr. Thompson to abstain from the fire department it never entered our minds that she would remain as the spousal support. Full Story

Is the four-day school week what is best for the majority of students in ISD 166 and the community as a whole? In my opinion what is best involves much more than discussions about academics or budget. These are the two main talking points of a 4-day week. Full Story
