Reminder for letters: Letters to the editor, columns, and cartoons are all the opinions of the contributors
and not necessarily the Cook County News-Herald. While we encourage readers
to submit letters to the editor on issues they feel strongly about, we ask that
letters include name, address, and phone number. The Cook County News-Herald may withhold a name to protect a letter writer, but will never run a letter
without knowing the identity of the author. Anonymous submissions or letters of
questionable credibility will not be published or acknowledged.
The Cook County News-Herald also asks that letters be no longer than 350 words,
however at the editor’s discretion, longer submissions may be published. All
letters are subject to editing for length, clarity, and libelous content.

Fireman said we should have tolerance
This letter is in response to the recent letter of June 5 regarding the Colvill Fire Department. I first want to correct that letter as I, the fireman, was misquoted by the two women, aka “name withheld.” Full Story
A military solution to religion argument
The editorial comments of the past few weeks concerning religion remind me of the ridiculously partisan political arguments of recent years and of the hopeless gridlock our federal and state governments are in. Both sides of this “can it be proven or disproven” religion argument are adamant they are right and the other side is wrong. Full Story
Letters on religion fruitless
Theexchange of letters has been interesting but fruitless. People aren’t argued into believing the Bible and once you have a real relationship with God you can’t be argued out of it. Let’s keep it simple — where do we go when we die. Do we believe in a Creator or not? If not, who knows? Full Story
Reading research and His writings
In response to Geri (Lou) Jensen’s June 5 letter to the editor: Let me see if I’ve got this right. You assert, “A lapse in the brain’s critical function seems necessary to accept belief of a deity!” Full Story
