Vikings' season comes to an end in Floodwood
TheCook County baseball season came to a close for the seventhseeded Vikings last week when they lost to second-seeded Floodwood, 8-2. The Vikings ended the season with a 6-11 record.
On Wednesday, June 2, the Vikings traveled to Floodwood. Earlier in the season, the Vikings played in a high-scoring game against the Polar Bears where they came up short one run, 11-10. Full Story
On the links with Twiest
Just last week, Cook County junior Zack Twiest qualified for the state golf tournament. Twiest will compete on June 16 and 17 at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker, Minnesota. Twiest will be one of 87 qualifying golfers competing in the Class A state golf tournament. Full Story

Ailee Larson and Kieran Scannell qualify for State Track meet
It’s been about 20 years since the last Cook County athlete qualified for the Minnesota State Track meet although we have had two past state champions— Dick Dorr in the long jump and Ann Siekert in the discus. QuickStart Tennis a hit with local youths
This spring 65 boys and girls, ages 5 – 16, participated in the five-week 2010 USTA Jr. Team Tennis program. Players practiced and competed in one of four divisions, QuickStart Tennis 8 & Under Division; QuickStart Tennis 10 & Under Division; 18 & Under Stars Division and 18 & Under Stripes Division. Where are the fish biting?
The latest reports to John at Buck’s Hardware have been good from walleye fishermen. They report that walleyes are biting on Lake Saganaga in 6 – 12 feet of water around weed beds, using Lindy rigs or slip bobber rigs with leeches. Full Story

The old Chik Wauk Lodge has been refurbished with the help of countless volunteers and there will be a grand opening this July 4th. Full Story
