I recently had the pleasure of visiting Washington, D.C. It’s an amazing place where you can see and feel the history everywhere you go. Thoughts on school nutrition needed
Parents of School District 166 students are encouraged to complete a quick online survey about their thoughts on school nutrition, the State Health Improvement Program grant, and the District Wellness Committee. Local groups collaborate on “Books for Babies”
The Grand Marais Public Library, Library Friends of Cook County, and Sawtooth Mountain Clinic will again collaborate with their “Books for Babies” program. The program offers the parents of every infant born in Cook County a reusable library tote, library card application, early literacy information and recommendations, and a brand new board book. Girl Scouts strive to be superior influences
Cook County Girl Scouts held their annual Court of Awards at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts Thursday, May 27, 2010. The oldest group, high school sophomores, is now considered Ambassadors and will be working toward the highest Girl Scout accomplishment – the Gold Award. Full Story

Local youths complete ATV safety training
Community Education, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and the Cook County ATV Club conducted allterrain vehicle (ATV) safety training in May, with classroom instruction and a field test on Saturday, May 22. Eleven youths, ages 12 – 15 years, completed the training. Full Story
Deer Hunters donate $5,000 for habitat
On Wednesday, June 9, Gail Englund and Pete Harris, representing the Arrowhead Chapter of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association, handed off a check for $5,000 to Minnesota DNR Assistant Wildlife Manager, Dave Ingebrigtsen, and U.S. Forest Service Wildlife Biologist Wayne Russ. Full Story
