Cook County Historical Society planning CCC exhibit
The Cook County Historical Society is working on a fascinating exhibit on the Civilian Conservation Corps thanks to a “Legacy” grant awarded by the Minnesota Historical Society. Cook County was significantly impacted by the Depression- Era CCC program. Of the 61 CCC camps authorized for the state of Minnesota, 13 were in the county. Full Story
No free water for tennis courts
County Commissioner Fritz Sobanja appealed to the Grand Marais Public Utilities Commission (PUC) for a waiver of the $1,300 fee to hook up water to a fountain near the tennis courts in Grand Marais, on property formerly owned by the school but now owned by the county. Full Story
