School District operating referendum on November ballot
Cook County voters will decide whether or not School District 166 will receive more money over the next five years when they cast their ballots on November 2.
The board at its July 21 meeting approved a resolution for an operating referendum in the amount of $650 per pupil unit. Full Story

Courthouse rain garden to be redone
The one-year-old courthouse rain garden is getting a makeover, and this time, the project will be closely supervised by county commissioners and staff in consultation with American Legion representative Don Wilson.
The county received complaints about the visual impact of the rain garden after the service honoring veterans was held on the courthouse lawn on Memorial Day. Full Story

Canoe Race tradition continues under sunny skies
The tradition of competition between paddlers on the Gunflint Trail continued on Wednesday, July 21 with hundreds of people lining the shore at Gunflint Lodge to watch the action. For the first time in three years, the weather cooperated and all of the race divisions were held. Full Story
