Hegg graduates with honors
The University of Minnesota - Duluth held its undergraduate commencement ceremony at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC) on Saturday, May 15, 2010. Participating in the commencement exercise was Alexander Sands Hegg, who graduated with honors, receiving a bachelor of music degree. Alex’s focus was in jazz studies. Full Story
Vallen Cook in summer internship program
Vallen Cook of Grand Portage, a sophomore at Northwestern College, is getting first-hand experience in ministry and community development through a summer internship program. Funded in part by a grant from the Lily Endowment, the program places students in a variety of ministry contexts, where the interns work with and learn from mentors. Full Story

Cook County Higher Education's (CCHE) parking lot and ramp area are getting a new makeover thanks to Daniel Ditmanson and some of his friends.
Ditmanson, from Boy Scout Troop 167, is trying to earn his Eagle Scout Badge, Scouting’s highest honor, and to do so he must complete a project that will benefit the community. Full Story

Minnesotans 55 and better can now find meaningful volunteer opportunities with the click of a mouse, thanks to a new, state-of-the-art website launched by the Minnesota Senior Corps (MnSC) Association. The search is on for chimney swifts and purple martins
The Ely Field Naturalists are looking for public assistance throughout the Arrowhead Region to identify and report the presence of chimney swifts and purple martins. The numbers of chimney swifts in Minnesota have declined by as much as 48 percent in the past four decades. Full Story
