and not necessarily the Cook County News-Herald. While we encourage readers
to submit letters to the editor on issues they feel strongly about, we ask that
letters include name, address, and phone number. The Cook County News-Herald may withhold a name to protect a letter writer, but will never run a letter
without knowing the identity of the author. Anonymous submissions or letters of
questionable credibility will not be published or acknowledged.
The Cook County News-Herald also asks that letters be no longer than 350 words,
however at the editor’s discretion, longer submissions may be published. All
letters are subject to editing for length, clarity, and libelous content.

School board a rewarding job
I would like to inform the citizens of District 1 that I will not be running for the school board this term. Despite what I have often heard, this is not a job without reward. Helping children is rewarding and that is what the majority of board decisions are about. Thanks to all who have supported me and put their trust in my hands. It has been a pleasure serving you. After this week’s election, we know who the candidates for county commissioner are. As we head into the final months before the election, it seems appropriate that we ask the candidates where they stand on the issues facing the Cook County – Grand Marais Economic Development Authority (EDA). Should it even be continued? What should we do with Superior National golf course? Full Story
