Grand Portage couple arrested on drug charges
Two Grand Portage residents, Dean Frederick Deschampe Sr., 46, and Anita Ellen Shearer, 38, were arrested on September 9, 2010 for allegedly purchasing the prescription drug OxyContin from an individual cooperating with the St. Louis County Sheriff ’s Department. Illegal purchase of OxyContin, a pain management drug, is a felony. Full Story
Grand Portage SHIP mentorship program a success
Shianna Lien, an eighth grader who lives in Grand Portage, participated in the Grand Portage Mentorship Program, a six-week program which places students from seventh to 11th grades in mentorship positions with business professionals in the community. DNR offers land for sale—six parcels in Cook County
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will be holding public auctions in October to sell a total of 38 parcels of land. Clearwater Road closures begin September 20

Consider protecting property with wildfire sprinkler system
