Vikings start out perfect at 3-0
The Cook County Vikings have high expectations for this season, after capping off a 19-6 season last year by falling in the Section 7A semi-finals. The Vikings lost three starters off of that team, including all-conference selections Christina Nelson and Essa Jacobsen, but the Vikings have jumped out to a quick start, winning their first three matches in convincing fashion. Tennis Association annual meeting highlights successes
Allen Campbell’s Restaurant in Grand Marais was the site of the Cook County Tennis Association’s annual meeting Tuesday, Sept. 7 and in between the good food and the visiting, an excellent review of last year’s accomplishments and next year’s goals was shared. Full Story

Windy weather has kept some fishermen off the lakes, but those who managed to find calm waters had some success. Full Story
“Fish Pigs”
The leaves are changing color and the Trail is starting to look a lot like fall. It seems that we are the last ones to get a color change since many of the maple trees in town have already peaked in their brilliant reds. We are just starting to see the birch trees fade into gold on the Gunflint Trail. Tamarack trees are the last to turn up here and that is a sure sign of colder weather ahead. Full Story
