Property owners question hospital levy increase
Two things were apparent at the hospital board’s Truth in Taxation hearing held on Thursday, December 23. The public in attendance wanted the board to know that it didn’t appreciate the levy imposed by the hospital board, and the board wanted the public to know that it wasn’t entirely their fault. Young M2 players kick off the hockey season
The Cook County M2s played in Two Harbors December 11 - 12. This year we have a very young team, but that did nothing to deter them from some excellent hockey!
Game one was against Two Harbors Maroon. This was the toughest battle of the whole weekend. Our M2s came out timid to a strong Two Harbors team but finally started to Full Story
A politically incorrect Christmas?
As I write this column, the noise in the background is of my three sons actively trying to kill each other…. well, not exactly. Each of the boys received Nerf dart guns from Santa. Who would have thought that Santa and the NRA would ever form a pact? I wish they had formed that partnership when I was five years old! Full Story
Open on the Trail
The Gunflint Trail businesses are all reopening for the winter season and the vacationers are beginning to show up. All of the usual winter activities are in full swing right now with the exception of lake trout fishing, which does not open for a little while yet. Full Story
