A busy week provides top performances for Nordic skiers

Squirts take first place
In their second, tournament of the 2011-12 Squirt Hockey season, the Silver Bay/Cook County (SB/ CC) Squirts headed to Two Harbors for an eight-team event January 14 -15. The Squirts were 9-1 going into this tournament and would be facing Two Harbors White, the only team to defeat the SB/CC Squirts this year. Full Story
Vikings take fifth straight win in double overtime
The Cook County girls’ basketball team made the long trip to Moose Lake-Willow River on Thursday, January 19 to face the 12-4 Rebels and their high-powered offense.
It would be a night of great defense versus great offense, and on this night the Vikings’ defense would prevail. Full Story

Where are the fish biting?
Jon at Buck’s Hardware files this report: Lake trout action has been pretty decent overall. On Kemo Lake, lakers were biting ferociously. People were getting in 5 feet of water as well as 20 to 30 feet using minnows and jigs or spoons. Over at Greenwood action was good but quite a number of small ones. Full Story
Vikings triumph over two tough teams
The Vikings boys’ basketball team traveled to Moose Lake- Willow River on Thursday, January 19 to face the alwaystough Rebels on their home court.

at the Cook County Curling Club
Members of the Cook County Curling Club participated in the Minnesota Curling Association Senior Bonspiel at the Two Harbors Curling Club on the weekend of January 13, 14 and 15. Curlers had to be 50 years and over to participate. Full Story
