Alpine Vikings take 1st and 2nd
The Duluth East girls and Cook County/Silver Bay Alpine Vikings have been sparring all season, trading first and second place finishes on a routine basis. Last week at Spirit Mountain, the Alpine Vikings girls took first place in the largest field of racers yet this year edging out Duluth East by another slim margin. Full Story

Vikings lose one, win two
The last time the Vikings faced the North East Range Nighthawks was during the Ely Christmas tournament and it wasn’t a good night for the Vikings as they lost by 25 points.
On Thursday, January 26, the Vikings traveled to Babbitt to face the Nighthawks again, and although they lost, it was a much better game. Full Story
Ridge Riders host snowmobile drags
The Cook County Ridge Riders held the first snowmobile drag races of the year on Devil Track Lake on Saturday, January 21. Racing began at noon and despite cold weather and wind on the lake, a number of racers came out to compete. Full Story

Jr. Alpine Racing rocks!
In 1958, not long after George Nelson Jr. built the first ski runs at Lutsen, several young families known as the “Giants Ridge Founders” went to work with axes, ropes and borrowed equipment to blaze a ski run out of the woods. Full Story
Cook County/Silver Bay Squirts on a roll
As high school hockey teams around the region close in on the end of regular season play, the youth hockey circuit is playing the heart of their season. Midway through the 2011-12 season the Cook County/Silver Bay Squirts were posting a very impressive 11-1-1 record after a huge 1st place finish in Two Harbors a few weeks ago. Full Story
