Kristina Rude named to dean’s list
The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities has released its fall 2011 dean’s list, which includes Kristina B. Rude of Grand Marais. Students on the list all achieved a grade point average of 3.66 or higher while taking 12 or more credits.
Kristina is attending the College of Education and Human Development, and is studying kinesiology. Full Story
Kari Nelson named to St. Scholastica dean’s list
Kari Nelson of Grand Marais was named to the fall 2011 dean’s list at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth. Dean’s list members have achieved a 3.75 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Kari is in her third year, with an intended major in occupational therapy. Full Story

Although the lack of snow farther down the shore meant that snowmobilers were not able to ride as planned during the three-day 2012 Blackwoods Blizzard Tour, the event still took place— and still raised a phenomenal $763,000 for the ALS Society of Minnesota. Full Story
Carlson runs half-marathon in Bahamas
Nate Carlson briefly put away his cross-country skis and headed south to take part in the Bahamas Half Marathon held Sunday, January 15 in Nassau.
Carlson completed the 13.1-mile course in 2 hours 4 minutes and 11 seconds, about what he had hoped for. Full Story
