Great Expectations and Birch Grove recognized as “High-Quality Charter Schools”
The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) has named Birch Grove Community School (BGCS) in Tofte and Great Expectations School (GES) in Grand Marais among 22 “High-Quality Charter Schools” that are eligible to participate in programs from Minnesota’s Federal Charter Schools Program Grant Project. Senior Center welcomes visitors of all kinds
January was the start of another year and for some of us the ending to the previous year. Typically I am busy with all the year-end paperwork needing to be wrapped up and closed out. Actually this year was pretty easy for me. Maybe I was more organized. I don’t know for sure, but I am glad it is done. Full Story

How do you feel about a shooting range in Cook County?
For as long as North Shore residents can remember area gravel pits have been available for shooting target practice. Due to safety concerns in recent years, the U.S. Forest Service and Minnesota Department of Resources have been closing gravel pits and shooting enthusiasts have been hard pressed to find places to sight weapons and target practice.
