Stand and Salute Our Veterans

In honor of our veterans, there will be two Veterans Day dinners at Grandma Ray’s in Grand Marais. On Friday, Nov. 10 from 4 - 6 p.m. the American Legion Auxiliary will host a two-piece chicken dinner and on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 4 - 6 p.m. the American Legion Post #413 will provide a roast beef dinner. Both meals are free to veterans—regular menu prices available for all others.

Empty Bowls 2017

All are invited to Empty Bowls 2017. The annual fundraiser for Cook County hunger programs. This year’s event is Monday, November 13 in the lower level of St. John’s Catholic Church, located at 5th St. and Broadway, Grand Marais: lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and dinner from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Event includes soup meal, handmade bowl and pendant sale, silent auction, and bake sale.

Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner

All are invited to the Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner at First Congregational Church, 1:00 p.m., on Thanksgiving Day. The church is located at the corner of 3rd Avenue West and 2nd Street. There is no charge for this traditional meal. Call the church at 387-2113 for information about home delivered and take-out meals and rides to the dinner.

I.S.D. 166 Regular School Board Meeting

The School Board of I.S.D. 166 will meet for a Regular Meeting Thursday, November 16, 2017, 5:00 p.m., in Jane Mianowski Conference Center, 101 West 5th Street, Grand Marais, MN.

Ruby’s Pantry

Cook County Ruby’s Pantry, 2nd Tuesday of the month food distribution 5 - 6:30 p.m., $20 (cash only) Sponsored by Spirit of the Wilderness Church. You will be amazed at al the food you get at the High School. No financial or other qualifications— this is surplus food for all!

Sawtooth Mountain Clinic Foot Care Clinic

The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Department of Public Health & Human Services offer their Foot Care Clinic at the Grand Marais Senior Center on the third Tuesday of each month, from 9 to 11 a.m. First come, first served. The cost is $10. Bring your own soap, towel, and bucket to soak your feet.

Blood Pressure and Glucose Screening

The Sawtooth Mountain Clinic and Cook County Department of Public Health & Human Services will be offering Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar screenings on Tuesday, Dec. 5, Cook County Whole Foods Co-op from 9:15-10:15 a.m. and at the Senior Center from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Blood pressures are free and blood sugars cost $3.
