Folks lined up in droves for the 2023 Lutsen Rummage Sale held on July 15. Eager shoppers descended on the grounds of Lutsen Evangelical Lutheran Church at 9 a.m.

The Grand Marais Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 5:15 p.m. in the City Council Chambers of City Hall to consider: 1. Cassidy Gecas' request for a conditional use permit to relocate a 22’ by 18’ cabin to be used as employee housing. Gecas is requesting to place the cabin at 1615 W. Highway 61 legally described as PART S 1/2 OF NE/SW N OF HWY BK 137 PG.

It took longer than expected but the good news is that the 1st & 2nd Thrift Store is open at its’ new location at 11 1st Ave West (the newly rehabbed Birchbark and Gifts building). The store had a “soft” opening on Saturday, July 22 and despite no advertising, business was brisk, said Anne Mershon.

Dave Walter is an interesting fellow. He recently purchased the Yellow House from North House Folk School and is currently moving it onto a lot he bought in town and will work to renovate it in his free time.
