Always a fun event, a fair number of local golfers traveled to Silver Bay last weekend to compete in the two-day 64th annual Men’s Invitational held on the Silver Bay Golf Course.
Cook County News-Herald columnist Steve Aldrich won the Super Sr. 3rd flight while David Saari was a consolation winner in the Super Sr 1st flight.
Jamie Spry, Grand Portage, was the 1st flight winner with Mike Christiansen taking third.
Dustin Herold, former Pierz high school golf star, was the overall champion. Dustin shot 72 on Friday and 77 on Saturday to post 224, the lowest score. He was four strokes clear of the field at the end of regulation play with Eric Berquist taking second at 228.
Sam Tukey was the medalist with a low score of 69. Sam finished fourth overall.
Casey Allar carded 243 to take the President’s Flight title.
Mike Guzzo was Senior champion with a two-day score of 239. He posted 82 on Friday and 79 on Saturday.
Terry Keseley won the Senior President flight with a score of 253.
