Grace Evon Palmer

Grace Evon Palmer, nee Anderson, passed away October 6th, 2023.
Born November 19th 1936 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota to Hildegard and Waldo Anderson.
Grace attended school in New Ulm and college in St. Paul where she later met her future husband, Bruce.
She worked in advertising at the Emporium department store and later returned to college where she completed studies in occupational therapy, a career which she enjoyed for several decades.
Grace and Bruce were married on October 1st 1960 and made their home in St. Paul while spending summers at the family cabin in Schroeder.
Grace was known for reading books, and would usually head to the cabin with a large stack of books that she would read in record time. She was a faithful visitor to the local libraries, but would also buy books that she was especially interested in, and then pass them along to family and friends as “gently read” books.
She love to sew, and became quite talented over time, so that her kid’s’ clothes looked great, if a bit large, and her grandchildren’s Halloween costumes and superhero outfits looked amazing.
She was an excellent cook, although she liked to follow recipes unlike Bruce’s experimental culinary creations. The “keepers” would go into her 3×5 box and the recipes that

didn’t pass the taste test ( or set off the smoke alarm) would be quietly recycled.
Grace stayed in close touch with her friends from work and her friends from Otis Avenue and was always happy to go out for coffee, a play, a concert, a book club, an art show or to a neighbor’s house to watch a silly TV series while eating popcorn.
She recently moved to Duluth to be closer to her grandkids, and enjoyed attending middle school softball games and living right next to Lake Superior.
She is survived by her sons Marc (Jenna) and Eric and grandchildren, Odin, Alexis, Grady, August and Isaac.
She was predeceased by her husband Bruce, brother Vern Anderson and sister Ruth Keil.
A memorial gathering in celebration of Grace’s life will be held in the spring.
