Michael James Smith, 53, passed away on January 28th with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mike worked for thirty plus years at the Cook County Recycling Center where he loved interacting with the community and meeting people.

He enjoyed being outdoors and had a great love for fishing and snowmobiling. He had a love for music and was an amazing guitar player. He had a great sense of humor and infectious laughter. It brought him joy in making others laugh. He was so kind and generous to everyone and had many friends and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife Samantha and two teenage children Braidy Michael and Julia Elsie, mother and father Ted and Carol Smith, grandmother Elsie Smith, siblings Trisha (Darin) Bloomquist and Brian Smith, nephew Kyle Bloomquist, great nephew Kolton, nieces Sky Lynn and Kirsten, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
