Yvonne Marie (Denault) Block passed away on September 4th, 2024, at the age of 88. She is preceded in death by her parents Emedee and Grace Denault; her brothers Robert and Laverne, and sister Doreen. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years (Bob) and five sons: Bob, Ray, Steve (Patty), Dave (Meghan), and Bruce; grandchildren Eryn, Peter, Brittany, Scott, Billy, Abbie, Molly, Bridget, Keira, Rush, Tara, Yvonne, Anna, Sydney and Ellie; great grandchildren Camden, Theodore, Zoe, Jacob, Xavier, Thea and Natalie; Ross, Reese, Ryan, Rebecca.

Yvonne was born in a farming community in central Illinois, lived on the family farm until the passing of her father when she was 12 years old. She and her mother moved to Herscher, Illinois, a town of 600 people. She and Bob met on the first day of high school in 1950, he still remembers what she was wearing that day. She graduated from Herscher High school in 1954. The following year she enrolled in St. Mary’s School of Nursing. She studied there until her marriage to Bob in 1956.

They lived in Highwood Illinois, close to Bob’s work, for three years until they purchased a home in a country subdivision in Prairie View, Illinois where they raised their five lively sons. She was a stayat- home mom because of Bob’s work and her belief that she should be available to her children whenever needed. She became the mom of the neighborhood. After her sons were in their teens, she attended Lake County College studying computers and art. She discovered her hidden talent for painting here.
