Betty Abrahamson

Betty Ann Abrahamson died February 8, 2025 at the age of 92. Betty was born April 9, 1932 to Carl and Anna Lindstrand.

She grew up on the family farm in Gibbon, Minnesota with her six brothers and sisters. She attended Gibbon High School and graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1954.

Betty raised her family in Southeast Minneapolis. She taught physical education and coached at Hazel Park Jr. High in St. Paul, retiring in 1995 after 28 years.

Betty spent her remaining years in Grand Marais on the shore of Lake Superior, where she truly enjoyed her life. She took great pride in maintaining her property and she became a quilter, making many beautiful quilts throughout the years.

She was proud of her Swedish heritage, being 100% Swede. Betty would fly the Swedish flag, light a Swedish candle at dinner, have a pot of Swedish coffee on the stove and made many pieces of lefsa

each Christmas to share. Betty enjoyed entertaining and would graciously welcome family and friends to visit. Betty, also known as mom, grandma, Babs and Abe, was described as spunky, full of life, independent and occasionally as a stubborn Swede. She will be missed.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Anna Lindstrand, son Eric Abrahamson, grandson Ryan Abrahamson. She is survived by sister Frances Meuleners, sister-in-laws Arlyce Abrahamson and Mavis Ward, daughter Lisa Betz (Jim), grandsons Micki Abrahamson, Jimmy Betz (Kali), Dan Betz (Maddy), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
