CCHS Ice Storm robotics team performs exceptionally well at the Northern Lights Regional
The last time Cook County High School had a robotics team in the competition was in 2019, and then COVID-19 came along and shut the program down. Following a period of student disinterest, Ice Storm (3054) made a triumphant return in 2024-25. This resurgence was largely due to the leadership of new coach Sarah Anderson, a math teacher at ISD 166, and mentor Marie Tessier, a community member and software development specialist. Their dedication and the enthusiasm of seven highly motivated CCHS students have truly revitalized the program.
Northland Foundation’s Youth In Philanthropy Board awards 11 grants for projects planned and led by children and youth in the region
The Northland Foundation and the young people serving on its Youth In Philanthropy Board awarded 11 grants totaling $9,766 in their winter 2025 funding round to projects within the geographic area that the foundation serves.

Grand Marais Park Board sets 2025 Gunflint Hills Golf Course rates
The Grand Marais Park Board met on March 4 with a quiet agenda. Among the topics talked about and voted on was setting fees for golfers who play at the cityowned Gunflint Hills Golf Course. Prices will be slightly raised for 2025, said Gunflint Hills Superintendent Paul Jones.

Cook County boys bow out of Section 7A tournament play
The Cook County boys' basketball team displayed remarkable resilience in a hard-fought match against the Cromwell/Wright basketball team. Despite the 71-59 loss in the play-off match played at Cromwell on Wednesday, March 5, the team's determination was evident throughout the game.
