Grand Marais Film Society Kicks Off 2024 Season This Friday

With the arrival of fall and cooler weather along the north shore, the Grand Marais Film Society is back with another great season of programming. “We’ve worked hard to make this a sustainable organization, and we learned a lot from our first film season.” Said Tom Morse, one of the Film Society’s board members, “We’ve also been busy filing paperwork and making plans to ensure that this is a sustainable effort so that our community can enjoy films for years to come.” Morse shared that the Film Society is now officially a 501(c) (3) organization and is accepting applications for volunteers to help run screenings.

Moose Madness draws lots of families to Grand Marais

Crowds approached Fisherman Picnic levels this past weekend as folks from near and far came to celebrate Moose Madness. With perfect weather conditions— warm and sunny— and the chance to see Murray the Moose strolling through town, unique moose-themed items to buy in stores, crafts, and games held at North House Folk School, and the hunt for the Medallion, one couldn't expect fewer visitors to our area.

Jes Rodne’s last year as Coordinator of Operation Family Christmas

Jes Rodne is gearing up for her 10th and final season as Volunteer Coordinator of Operation Family Christmas. The program has been successful in helping 1000’s of children in the community during hardships through the Christmas holidays and it has brought so much joy to her heart, but Rodne says it is time for the next chapter in her life.
