Arrowhead Cooperative recently held its Annual Meeting, an event that highlighted the Cooperative’s achievements, future plans, and the value of member participation. Approximately 100 people attended the meeting, with 71 memberships officially registered, underscoring the community’s strong engagement.
The Cook County Historical Society (CCHS) was established in the fall of 1925 and is a countyand member-supported organization dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of the county’s storied past. In its early days, the historical society stored its initial collections in scattered locations (including the old leaky jail), managed a smattering of records, and relied on a shifting volunteer base.
Memory Cafe is an established and ongoing Care Partners program, a casual once-a-month gathering for people experiencing dementia and the family and friends who care for them. Participants are invited to engage using hands-on artistic processes to create a unique project that will serve as a symbolic momento honoring the shared experience.
On Wednesday, June 12, 2024, the flag of the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa was flown high for the first time in Rock Harbor to an Honor Song and Flag Song sung by the Stone Bridge Singers (traditional Anishinaabe drum group from Grand Portage). The Gichi Onigaming flag was raised by Grand Portage Band member and Vietnam veteran, Duane ‘Butch’ Deschampe.
