Applications for Health Care Foundation Grants Due May 1

Applications for the first round of 2024 North Shore Health Care Foundation (NSHCF) Community Health Grants, are due by 4 pm, Wednesday, May 1, 2024. The North Shore Health Care Foundation, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit now celebrating its 31st year in Cook County, works to address gaps in health care and community health-related needs locally. The Foundation will award approximately $30,000 this year, to community organizations and programs that contribute to equitable health care and healthy living in Cook County through its semi-annual grant program. The deadline for the second and final round of 2024 NSHCF grant funding is Oct. 1.

10 YEARS AGO APRIL 12, 2013 v By a 4-0 vote, the Cook County North Shore Hospital board voted to accept the 2014-2015 Hospital and Care Center Association labor agreement at its April 7 meeting. Under terms of the agreement employees will get wage increases ranging from .75 percent to 2 percent.

The new book features English and Ojibwe versions of traditional Grand Portage stories

BRIAN LARSEN Traditional sacred stories first published individually by the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa in the 1970s have been brought together in a new book titled Nanaboozhoo Babaamosed: Nanaboozhoo Went Walking & Other Stories from Grand Portage. The stories were first published as part of the Bilingual Reading Series, Ojibwe Cultural Resource Center of I.S.D.

Volunteers needed for North Shore Health Care fundraiser

Volunteers are needed for the North Shore Health Care Foundation’s 4TH Annual Taste of the Trail Picnic Adventure on Sunday, June 23, 2024. This event helps support equitable access to health care, healthy living programs and emergency services in Cook County and helps us develop programs where gaps in health services exist in our rural neck of the woods.
