10 YEARS AGO FEBRUARY 1, 2014 v On Thursday, January 23, 2014, the school board picked two architects to interview to see who will be selected to design a new industrial arts complex for the school. The estimated cost to build the 2,500 foot addition into the existing space is $750,000 with $200,000 of that dedicated to purchasing new equipment and $450,000 dedicated to construction.

Silver Bay Veteran’s Home wins energy conservation award
In December of 2023 the Silver Bay Veterans Home received special recognition: the State of Minnesota’s Energy Conservation Award. The facility, located on the shores of Lake Superior just north of Duluth, is home to 57 Minnesota Veterans or their spouses.

Tim Cochrane has been nominated for a 2024 Minnesota Book Award
BRIAN LARSEN Local author Tim Cochrane’s latest book, Making the Carry: The Lives of John and Tchi-Ki-Wis Linklater University of Minnesota Press) is one of four books in that category nominated for an Emilie Buchwald Award for Minnesota Nonfiction. The announcement came on Monday, January 29, from the Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library, who listed finalists in all nine categories for the 2024 Minnesota Book Awards.
