Prayer for Unity

On November 4th, Monday, 5:30 pm at the Log Cabin up at the Cook County Community Center, First Congregational is sponsoring a time of prayer and song before we head into Election Day. All people are invited to come and sing and pray.

Public, Businesses, Tribes, Organizations and Partners Invited to Fall Open House Events

USDA Forest Service-Superior National Forest’s, Forest Supervisor Tom Hall invites and welcomes the public, businesses, Tribes, organizations and partners to attend any, or all, of the upcoming three open houses across the Superior National Forest this fall. Attendees can meet staff, learn about career opportunities, and engage with project and program managers on current and upcoming projects.

Girl Scouts working towards their Bronze Award

Two Girl Scouts in the community have been working on their Bronze Award. It consists of helping the community in some way and having worked at least 20 hours each. Lily and Holly Belmore of Grand Marais, Mn. have made pet bags, each filled with a variety of items like brushes, treats, toys, and other essentials, depending on whether they are for a cat or a dog. These bags also include a handmade fleece blanket and a brochure that informs people how to care for their pets and why people should spay or neuter their pets.

Dyers Lake is being monitored

Schroeder – Tree-lined Dyers Lake in Schroeder has joined the Cook County lakes being monitored. Three area folks, Carla Menssen, Nancy Simpson and Margit Berg, have been out testing the quiet lake all summer, accompanied sometimes by a family of otters.
