New to Medicare Virtual Class

Learning what to do when you become eligible for Medicare can seem overwhelming. This class is for people who will be new to Medicare and would like to learn about Medicare Parts A, B, C and D. Topics will include a comprehensive introduction to Medicare including what Medicare covers, supplemental insurance and Part D prescription coverage. During the class you will learn the Medicare enrollment details, how to get the most from your benefits and how to research your Medicare plan options using the Medicare.gov site.

Township elections

March 12 was the day residents of the West End township went to hold their annual township elections and vote for town officers. Schroeder Township had one threeyear term for a supervisor position and the clerk position for two years.

The Grand Marais City Council met on Wednesday, March 13, and covered a lot of ground in their meeting. First, William (Billy) Lovaas was appointed to fill the vacancy in the city council and was sworn in by Mayor Tracy Benson.

State Fire Marshall here this week to investigate the cause of the Lutsen Lodge fire

When Minnesota's oldest resort, Lutsen Lodge, burned to the ground on February 6, speculation abounded about what caused the fire. With no guests onsite, only one employee working, and the lodge owner rumored to be in some apparent financial distress, the fire's origin became wild speculation on the internet as to why it occurred.
