Cecilia is a Licensed Independent Social Worker who is joining the team as part of our behavioral health service expansion. SMC CEO Kate Surbaugh notes “We are thrilled to welcome Cecilia to the SMC team. In recent years, SMC has strategically grown the behavioral health department to meet changing community needs. Cecilia’s professional experience, combined with her knowledge of Cook County, make her the perfect candidate to lead the behavioral health team into the future.” Originally from Brazil, Cecilia moved to Cook County in 2008 and earned her degree in Social Work from University of Minnesota – Duluth in 2012. She has over 10 years of experience as a clinical supervisor, leading behavioral health teams at HealthPartners and HDC in both Grand Marais and Two Harbors. Most recently, she served as Associated Director of Clinical Mental Health Services at Boynton Health, University of Minnesota.
