Grand Marais, MN – On October 10, 2024, Cook County Dispatch received numerous calls about a fire in the Cedar Grove Business Park. When deputies arrived, the fire was at the North Shore Laundry Services building on Cedar Grove Lane.

A pellet gun was confiscated from a student at Cook County High School on October 15, 2024, according to a memo sent by District 166 Superintendent Chris Lindholm. According to school officials, the incident was handled promptly and professionally.

Forest Service firefighters mopped up the forest fire near Bogus Lake, 13 miles northeast of Grand Marais, this past weekend.
NOAA collects eDNA samples from local rivers and the Big Lake
This summer, on an NOAA vessel in Lake Michigan, Doug and Mary Sanders's grandson Cristian and the University of Minnesota Wildlife Fishery team tested eDNA in 16 river tributaries for alewife. Such is a primary food source for Great Lakes salmon.
