Special fishing regulations open house meeting scheduled for September 20

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will hold an open house to collect public comments and share information on the existing experimental walleye regulations for Saganaga, Seagull, and Gull Lakes in Cook County, Minnesota. The experimental walleye regulations set in 2015 aimed to protect smaller walleye to help increase the walleye populations in these lakes.

The September 3 deadline for public comment has been extended through September 17, 2024 On August 6, 2024, the Superior National Forest published the Scoping Package for the proposed School Trust, St Louis County State Tax Forfeit, and TCF Land Purchase project. County Board August 27 Highlights

Aug. 27 Highlights: a collaborative five-year agreement, set to expire on June 15, 2029, has been established between the county and the U.S. Forest Service. This agreement includes the use of maintenance brush disposal sites, with Carlton Pit being the latest addition. Other designated brush disposal sites are the Cross River Pit, East Bearskin Pit, Greenwood Pit, Ball Club/ Airport Pit, Pike Lake Pit, and Caribou Lake Pit.

Road work beginning in Grand Portage

Beginning Tuesday, September 3, the roadway and storm sewer work will begin on Mile Creek Rd/CSAH 17 and Store Rd/CSAH 23. This will increase construction traffic and the volume of construction workers on the roadway. The work will compose of bituminous milling, gravel hauling, and excavation for the storm sewer structures and pipes. The public should expect traffic control flagging and temporary delays.
